Y’all, it’s the most wonderful time of the year!

Yes, it’s Christmas time, so we’re celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, our Savior. But also y’all…it’s MY BIRTHDAY MONTH!!! 🤪 And those who know me well know that I love a good birthday turn up!

Well, with 5 days leading up to my 26th birthday, I figured I could give y’all 5 facts about me every day until my birthday arrives (and then one more fact on my actual birthday day to equal 26!) These facts can range from serious ones, to fun ones, to extremely random ones, so I think it’ll be fun! Kind of an introduction to who I am, for those of you who have recently started following me!

Here we go:

fact #1: I love Jesus.

If y’all don’t know anything else about me, I pray that this is the main thing you do know. While it has been difficult, particularly lately, to express and do everything to and for His glory, I am truly working on remembering that every gift I have, every opportunity given to me is because He provided it! I want people to remember me when I’m gone as a woman of God. That doesn’t mean I’m perfect, or that I get things right all the time, but I am striving to be more like Him in every area.

fact #2: I didn’t want to be a poet…at first.

Some of you may or may not know this…but I used to hate poetry. In high school and college, I just couldn’t understand it. More specifically in college, I believed it to be the genre of hipsters in my major who were coffee connoisseurs, wore loose fitting jeans, and listened to all that free-flow-y/soft vocalist type music.

I wanted nothing to do with poetry, until poetry helped heal me during a time of uncertainty right after college. My occupation, my relationship status, my entire life was just in the balance. I have Rupi Kaur’s book milk and honey to thank. And also, my best friend Bria, who explained to me that poetry doesn’t have to be what we learned in school (she’s also a dope poet. LOVE AND MISS HER 😭🖤).

fact #3: I LOVE to dress up.

Most days I’m in sneakers, leggings, shorts, t-shirts, you know, all the comfy wear because of my job and because, well duh, it’s comfy. But if I ever get the chance to dress up?? I am SO excited! 😍 I don’t walk in heels very well, but I’ll take a chance to pop those suckers on to make an outfit look good 😂 Even when my boyfriend and I go on dates every now and then, I like to dress up just a little bit 🥺

fact #4: I’m not from Chattanooga.

A lot of people ask me if I’m from here, but no, I’m from Savannah, Georgia, y’all! Born in Atlanta, raised in Savannah. I have heavy ties here in Chattanooga though because my grandparents live here, so I grew up visiting here often, made childhood friends here, then eventually went to college here, and here I find myself today as an adult, working and creating!

fact #5: I have a YouTube Channel.

Ahh yes, among ALL the other things I do, I have a YouTube channel. I’ll admit, it hasn’t been very active lately because of all the other things I’ve been doing, BUT I do plan on posting more in 2021 👀 Right now, my latest poetry EP The Cocoon is on there, along with all the seasons of #MotivationalMishyMondays!
