october read.

Last month, I planned on reading 3 books, but only got to 2 of them: Such a Quiet Place by Megan Miranda and I’m Glad My Mom Died. By Jennette McCurdy.

Jennette’s book was a little hard to read, so I had to take breaks in between, hence why it took me longer to read, and why I only finished two books instead of three. It’s a great read though, so I highly recommend it! Maybe I’ll write a blog post reviewing those two books.

This month I wanted to read something spooky in honor of spooky season. And what’s spookier than vampires (a lot of things, like true crime, but for the sake of this blog post, nothing is spookier than vampires 🧛‍♂️).

My first time interacting with this book was when I was trying to find it in the library to put it on hold for someone. I couldn’t find it, but a co-worker of mine did. I was sort of curious about it, since someone thought it would be good enough to place on hold, and weeks later as I was thinking about what to read this month, this book popped into my brain.

When it arrived at the library for me, it had a “Staff Pick” sticker on the front just like Jennette’s book did, confirming that I was reading something right.

The book is called:

Apparently this author has a few other popular books, but honestly, this was my first time hearing of him. The author’s note and prologue captivated me, and so far the book is pretty good (I’m on chapter 8 already). I’m eager to see how the rest of this month will go reading this book!

While I’m a huge Megan Miranda fan, and I still have two of her books I need to finish, I’m having a monthly read (or two) in order for me to branch out to other genres and authors! If you’re an avid reader, I’d love to know…
