What is your favorite hobby or pastime?

One of my favorite hobbies/pastimes is my Nancy Drew era. I’ve mentioned it a lot recently to my coworkers, and even in one of my latest posts on Instagram. I used to read all the books, and eventually, I’d play the computer games. I used to think I wasn’t really a gamer, and I guess technically speaking, I’m not. I don’t know the lingo, I don’t stream, I just like to play games for fun.

And something I want to get back into real bad, is playing Nancy Drew PC games.

I want to shed the laptop life, and invest in a desktop. I was considering the Apple desktop since it’s sleeker, and I could easily send media from my computer to my other devices, especially when I’m creating content. But then I think about other options I want with my desktop, and…I want to go back to my Nancy Drew era. Not so much with books, but with gaming. And most of the Nancy Drew games are only compatible with PC, not Apple products.

I remember when my sister and I used to sit side by side at the family computer, trying to get clues to solve puzzles to figure out the mystery. We’d have pen and paper to write things down that we could easily forget. My parents would have to time me being on the computer so I wasn’t playing the game all day, because if I was allowed to be, I would.

Now, as an adult, I may just have to put a timer on myself once I do start playing the games again. 😅

Nancy Drew got me into mysteries, suspense, thrillers. It’s why I read those genres now as an adult; I still find happiness in trying to figure out “whodunit?” It’s fun to come up with suspects, and see who had the motive and opportunity to commit a crime or to create a spooky ongoing in the neighborhood. It’s one of my most favorite eras of my life! And who says I can’t re-enter it again as an adult?
