hair, hair, everywhere.

I don’t know, I feel like maybe I’m crushing it as an adult these days.

I type this as I have a pile of laundry sitting on my bed, unfolded. It will definitely wait until tomorrow, but that isn’t what I’m talking about here.

Today, I cut my own hair.

Now, this isn’t the first time I’ve cut my own hair; I did it during spring break of this year (so April), and then I went to my hair dresser at the beginning of June because it had already grown out so much again (plus, I didn’t really cut the back very well). The last time I saw my hairdresser Meghan, she encouraged me once again to cut trim my own hair between appointments.

Her schedule for hair goes as follows: get two hair appointment haircuts (one every six months), and self trim in between. I remember her telling me this, and I smiled thinking, There is no way I’m just going to take a pair of scissors to my own hair. I mean, technically, I have been doing my own hair for less than half of the years that I’ve been alive (had to pull the calculator out on that one). My mom did my hair for 17 years, and I took it on from there, evolving it so much to where I am now.

Spoiler alert: I love the way my hair looks even after I’ve cut it today. It looks like a full on fro, something my teenage/early 20s self was so afraid of, but that I’ve now embraced. It fits me well, and I’m happy to say that this month actually is the 2-year anniversary of my big chop! I don’t think I’ll ever go back to having long hair. It was fun and pretty, and I could do a ton of styles with it, but it also took up so much of my time.

Okay, it’s almost midnight so, cue the photo from today after I cut my hair and let it dry!

Aww, look at me! I don’t look like an almost 30-year-old at all! 😄

Have you ever cut your own hair before? What was the verdict? Have you ever done anything completely different to your hair that you never thought you would?
