REVIEW: Netflix Series “3%”

My best friend suggested this show to me a while back, and I finally finished it last night.

I’m honestly excited to be reviewing another tv show because I had fun writing about Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin a few months ago! Now I get to dive deep into another show. YES, THERE ARE SPOILERS. So, if you plan on watching this show, but don’t want to know what happens, don’t read this post just yet!

subbed or dubbed?

Honestly, I watched it dubbed 😬 Don’t kill me! I know the original language was Portuguese, and it probably would’ve been more dramatic had I watched it in its original language. I admit, it would have been cool to hear the original actors’ voices instead of those who were doing the translating acting…maybe I’ll go back and watch an episode with the original cast voices.

the characters

The characters definitely put me on a roller coaster ride. Overall, I think they all made some dumb decisions, then regretted them soon after, which had me frustrated. I hated characters in the first season, then ended up loving them in the last. I hated that they killed Fernando off in the third season 😭 even though I was frustrated with him for leaving The Process just because he thought Michele was kicked off too. They were sort of a weird couple to me, but I am glad he had someone who loved him and that he could love back 🥹

Favorite character? My girl Joana! I feel like it’s because she was the one who had me the least frustrated through the whole show 😂 Plus, she went through so many growing periods from denying her final Process test to scoping out the Shell then wanting to stay and help out there. She developed quite nicely, if I do say so myself.

Least favorite character? GLORIA. GLORIA. GLORIA. You can ask my boyfriend: every time she said or did something, I could not STAND her! Especially in seasons 3 and 4. She was a conniving little thing, and disloyal! I’m glad they didn’t give her much to say in the last few episodes. I honestly wanted to slap her silly; I don’t think a character has ever made me so mad 🤣

Honorable mention? MARCO! Okay, remember when I said Joana had good character development, MAN, Marco did too! I went from hating him because of his shenanigans during The Process in season 1, to really liking him and almost crying because he decided to stay in The Offshore despite the radiation that was killing everyone. I loved seeing him take care of his son during The Shell days! And I thought it was great that he finally broke the Alvarez tradition and really curse by staying in The Offshore.

I was also happy he didn’t return to Gloria because she didn’t deserve that happy ending, even if her baby was his! Sorry not sorry.

biggest plot twists

Sheesh, I feel like this show had PLENTY of them to go around! The ones I can think of are the fact that Marcela was Marco’s mother (honestly, I should’ve known…all those “Mar” names lol), that Andre ended up becoming an evil character instead of the loving brother we all thought he would be, that Rafael actually ended up being a character that you could love, and that they killed of Michele. I definitely thought she would’ve made it to the end. But honestly, I thought Ezekiel would have been in the entire series, and he was killed off in like the beginning of season 2 so 😅

solid friends

I loved Joana and Rafael’s friendship. I love how it lasted from beginning to end, from their Process to the last episode when they’re on the roof waiting for a possible war to break out, hoping that things wouldn’t be violent. I also loved the friendship between Michele and Xavier; it was fun to watch Michele prepare Xavier for his Process, and how their bond grew stronger from that.

the ending

I won’t lie, I did not like the ending. It felt so rushed in the last episode, which makes me think that maybe they didn’t have the funding to do what they wanted to do with it. Because how are you gonna have a possible war break out, but then somehow everyone decides to not go through with it? Andre, who was ruthless enough to kill his own sister, suddenly is too weak to go through with attacking the Inland and silently and PEACEFULLY leaves? Yeah, I don’t think that was consistent with his character.

And then the end is just everyone from the Inland going into the Process building, I guess insinuating that they’re all going through with Joana’s idea of a mass assembly where everyone can speak and be heard. But we don’t get to actually see that. Granted, the show finale was already an hour long, but I feel like they could’ve broken it up into two episodes to clear things up.

OVERALL RATING: 4 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Would’ve had 5 stars if the ending wasn’t so rushed and inconsistent. And if Gloria wasn’t such a terrible person 😂

Let me know what you think about my review in the comments! If you’ve watched 3% before reading this, did you think similar thoughts, or did you have a different opinion of how things went down? If you’ve never watched this show before, did this review intrigue you to watch it, and see what’s up? Should I do more posts like this? Let me know!
