what did I do today?
I couldn’t think of something to write about, so I chose to stick with the prompt given on this list I got from Pinterest.
Today, I woke up way later than I was supposed to…I’m talking, I had 45 minutes to do all the things I need to do, including take Patches out, drink my coffee, pick out an outfit for the day, etc. 45 minutes isn’t enough time for me; I usually dedicate 2 hours and 45 minutes to do all the things I need to do in the morning before I have to head to work. Granted, maybe 30-45 minutes of that time counts towards me actually trying to get out of bed, and maybe 30 minutes of that time is me scrolling on social media while drinking my coffee, but hey, at least I know myself!
I made it to work, which isn’t a problem for me because I actually enjoy what I do now (for those who are new to the blog, first of all, “Welcome!” And second of all, I’m a librarian. My official title is “Library Services Specialist” probably because a lot of the work I do is focused around programming).
Today, we had a program called “Outdoor Story Time” which is pretty self-explanatory. We read a book called Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf, did some autumnal songs/finger plays, and sang goodbye since it would be my co-worker’s last Outdoor Story Time (her last day is officially tomorrow). Her last days mean that I’ll be leading the programs she’s left behind until someone can replace her. I’m a little nervous to be taking on a ton of responsibility all at once, but I know that I actually have support at my job, so if I ever feel overwhelmed, I can always talk to my boss.
After Outdoor Story Time, the day was pretty steady. I spent my hour lunch break going to Publix to pick up the usual adult necessities: toilet paper, paper towels, dog food (I’m not even kidding, these are legitimately the things I purchased) plus some sushi (it was $5 sushi day, however, I had to go for the $10 roll knowing the $5 just wasn’t going to fill me up). After eating at Publix, I dashed home to drop off my items, and to take Patches out again. I’ve been doing my best to ease him into this transition of me being gone for most of the day, especially since right now he’s been wearing the cone of shame because of some weird rash he has (he’ll be going to the vet next week). So, I’ve been trying to keep him comfortable by showing my face at least in the middle of the day so he knows I’m still concerned for him, and checking on him. It’s a blessing that work is a mere 10 minutes away from where I live so this isn’t too much of a hassle, although eventually, I’m going to have to let him stay home for the whole day without seeing me. I know he’ll be fine, he’s a good boy 💙🐶
The rest of the work day was busy enough that the time flew by. Honestly, every day at the library is an adventure because the same things don’t happen every day, even if part of the time you’re sitting at the desk. You don’t see the same people, or encounter the same events other than the typical library duties, so it keeps things interesting. After work, I went home, showered, ate, and relaxed.
My usual evenings go like this, and relaxing for me includes playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons, practicing Duolingo, blogging, and then reading before bed.
So yeah, that was what I did today!
What did you do today? What was your favorite part about today?
