cabo san lucas.
Jetpack will post a daily prompt to encourage writing here on your blog, which honestly helps me when I’m not sure what to write for the day. Today’s prompt is above, and let me tell you…I have had several amazing adventures in my twenties that I could write about, but I think I refer back to the Cabo San Lucas vacation the most.
The year was 2017, one year after me and my friends Caylin and Bria graduated from college. We were working some jobs that were alright for where we were in our lives at the time, but Caylin really encouraged us to take a trip together. We used our income tax refunds (well, at least I did) to splurge on a one week trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. We’d be staying in a resort where everything was paid for, minus your fun excursions.
I remember telling my parents, and how worried they were. Back then, I didn’t fully understand what there was to be worried about; I was an adult, taking a vacation with two of my best friends! What could go wrong?
Well, nothing really went wrong during the trip. I do remember almost being late for our flight out of Atlanta, and emotions running high, but when we actually got to Cabo, it was honestly a dream. Again, I still talk about it, to this day! I can remember entering the resort, and the sweet smell of, I don’t even know what greeted us (it gave like a flower, cherry sort of smell, I think), and seeing our room with the balcony facing the pool, seeing the pool itself, walking around the resort to see all the different restaurants and the pier – y’all, at 22-years-old, I was eating it all up! It was one of the best weeks of my life.
One of the things I didn’t like was the four-wheeling. To be honest, even when I was riding in the back while Bria drove, it wasn’t super fun to me. All the bumps and curves, the dirt (thankfully, they had helmets, bandanas and goggles for us all). Call me a princess, but I could’ve gone without that experience 😭 HOWEVER, I am happy that I did at least try it, even if Bria and I were the last ones in our group to make it to each of the stops we had 😂
While that was the most memorable vacation in my twenties (with the cruise for my friend Caylin’s bachelorette coming in second), I’m eager to see what kind of trips I’ll take in my thirties. While I’ve been married for almost two months, we still haven’t gone on our honeymoon. I know there are some people who wait to have a honeymoon, and there are some couples who don’t have one at all, and just get into their married lives, taking trips when they can, but never officially calling it a “honeymoon.”
I was originally in a rush for us to do our honeymooon, but Cadarius assured me that we’d rather be prepared financially, and wait to go somewhere we really want to go instead of settling for something now just because we can.
So, hopefully within the next year, you’ll get a blog post from me about some fun, small trips we’ll take, and then a something special we decided to do!
What’s your most memorable vacation? Was it mostly good things or mostly bad things that made it memorable? Have you ever had to hold off on a trip to be able to go and do exactly what you wanted to?
