MOVIE REVIEW (POSSIBLE SPOILERS‼️): “Cobweb” on Hulu.

Well, I was very excited about this movie, and I’ve been majorly let down. But, it’s blogging content, so let’s get into it:

synopsis

“Young Peter is plagued by a mysterious, constant noise from inside his bedroom wall — a tapping that his parents insist is in his imagination. As his fear intensifies, he starts to believe that his parents are hiding a terrible and dangerous secret.” – Google

So, this sounds pretty interesting, right? When I found out that the producer on this film was the same person who produced Barbarian, I was eager to see if this would give the same vibe as that film. It sort of did, but I personally feel like there were some plot holes in the movie. One of the things I can’t stand about a lot of horror movies is when they don’t explain the danger.

*in my backstreet boys voice* “TELL ME WHYYY”

Like, how did this monster come to be? Is it a legend? An actual person that transformed due to the actions of her parents? I feel like this movie attempted to answer these questions, and sort of told us the “how” and “why” behind the horror, but not in enough detail to really satisfy me.

Maybe I’m being a bit harsh, and it’s supposed to be up to the viewer to create their own perspective on the background, but I for one would like to know WHY Peter’s parents chose to create the monster in the first place. Were they just straight up abusers to their children? If so, why abuse their daughter so fully, yet keep Peter in their lives to abuse in other, comparatively minor, ways (except for when he got in trouble at school).

I’m reading some online articles, and apparently, the parents locked her up because of her monstrous appearance. Even if this is the case…how did they make a baby so monstrous to begin with? She just popped out of the womb ugly and dangerous? There’s no family history of this, no nothing??? I need the background.

favorite characters? SURPRISE there were none.

Every single one of these characters disappointed me. Their actions crossed so many lines, so many boundaries. No one made any wise decisions. It frustrated me to NO end. I couldn’t take it anymore. From beginning to end, I was commenting on how dumb their choices were. Ugh!

Overall rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I give this 3 stars because yeah, it didn’t turn out as good as I would like it to be, but it definitely had some potential. It’s kind of giving Skinamarink vibes with the parental abuse commentary, and maybe that’s what they were going for? Either way, don’t rely on me and my review, go watch it yourself and see if you like it!
