see you soon. (pinned post)

Last night, I planned on writing down some goals I wanted to achieve; not because October is almost over, but because I’ve been itching for a change in the way I’ve been doing things. I have a routine, but it isn’t getting me one step closer to where I need to be. I wasn’t sure how I was going to go about writing down this plan, until I saw this post on Instagram write before I settled down to write. (And yes, if you’re wondering, I did change “women” to “woman” because of my little editing brain πŸ˜…)

So, I began writing down what I envisioned the woman I wanted to become would do, say, etc. This prompt really helped me think about what exactly I desired to do, and who exactly I wanted to be. It made it seem less intimidating, because I don’t know about you, but I get a little timid sitting down and figuring out exactly what I want to do. Especially knowing that sometimes, things don’t go as planned.

Writing these things down allowed me to see how possible these things were to achieve. Of course, as this post says, it won’t take just a day or two, or even a week to become this woman, but I am determined and committed to changing things now so that I can continue to build myself into her every day.

With that being said, this morning, I watched an Instagram story of a friend of mine, and she’d posted a clip from Kevin Gates’ latest interview in which he was discussing his break from social media. Those who know me know that I am on social media ALL the time; definitely every day. Even though I may not post every day, I’m posting on my Instagram story at the very least. And listening to what Kevin Gates had to say about comparison being the ultimate killer of joy, and how easy it is to compare our “normal” lives to someone’s highlight reel…it really convicted me.

Because I’ll be honest…I’ve had a few people in my life tell me that I should take a break from social media, and I felt like I couldn’t because that’s the main place in which I promote myself. But then I thought about how Instagram shut down that one time this month, and I was reminded that there are other places and ways to promote my work, and that I SHOULD utilize those things because social media could definitely shut down any day, and where would all my hard work be?

Starting in November (so, after this weekend), I’m taking a break from all my social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok). Anything that will cause me to be distracted instead of allowing me to plan out my next moves, and promote myself in other ways is out of the window. And I’ve never felt more at peace about it. It’s honestly the same type of peace I felt when I was getting my hair cut…I was ready then, and I’m ready now for this break! πŸ™ŒπŸ½

places you can still find me in November…

The Blog. I’ll still be blogging here, maybe even more than once a week since I won’t be so distracted by social media. It’ll be nice to get back to this kind of writing. I won’t make any promises though, because again, things don’t always go as planned. πŸ€ͺ Also, if you see these blog posts popping up on my Facebook page or Twitter, it’s because they post there automatically from here!

The Newsletter. I’ll still be uploading a newsletter every week in November (again, no distractions, so I should be able to get it done!) This will be the best way to keep up with whatever fun stuff I’ve got going on. Think of it like a weekly Instagram story that you’ll get via email. I may even put videos of me speaking there just for y’all! 😁

If you’re not signed up for my newsletter, you can click here to subscribe!

Email. If you really need to get a hold of me, here are a couple of emails to choose from…

  1. Business: | Need something edited? Want to propose a collaboration?
  2. Personal / Unofficial: | Personal means, you don’t have my phone number, but you want to reach out and talk, and I’m available for that as well!

Text me! Yes, if you have my number, you’re free to text me! I’m still up for hanging out, talking, etc.!

I think those are all the places you can find me! Unless, of course, you see me out and about, don’t be afraid to say hi, I don’t bite! πŸ’™

If you’re in the same place mentally, even emotionally and spiritually in which you feel like you’re stuck or distracted, I hope you’re able to figure out a way to release yourself from that. It doesn’t have to be social media; maybe it’s a friendship, or a specific part of your routine that you need to step away from. Maybe it’s a show you watch regularly, or types of foods you’re eating. Whatever it is, I pray you’re able to seek the Lord for wisdom, and move forward doing whatever is best for you and the future you that you desire to be!

See / talk to y’all soon, in whatever form that may be!
