support.

So, this past weekend, I decided to be a part of support/gain group chats on Instagram again.

I was a part of one a couple of years ago for a couple of months, and while my engagement definitely grew, I felt like I was getting feedback and love on my posts that just wasn’t genuine. It felt like a game to me, one that I wasn’t willing to play if I was going to create vulnerable content that I wanted people to interact with. After leaving, it was clear to me which people in the group were actually wanting to support me, and which ones only did it because it was part of the group rules.

This year, I wanted to start my own group, and thankfully with the help of a close friend and another girl who allowed me to join her own gain group, I was able to create some rules and start my own! It’s small right now, which I like, and I genuinely do support these women already, so it isn’t hard for me to show love to them and their posts of what they’re doing.

My only prayer is that nothing gets lost within the group, and what I mean by that is, that it doesn’t become a chore or something that will simply boost engagement, but that these women would sincerely love and support one another’s journeys as they move forward! I know it’ll take some time to get used to for those who have never been a part of a group like this before, so I’m learning how to patiently teach others in this process as well!

I’ll have to post an update whenever things really start picking up!

Have you ever tried Instagram support/gain group chats? If so, are you currently still in it, or did you leave? What do you like about them? If you left, what were your reasons?
