Today’s prompt: “Make one tangible goal for the week ahead.”
Well, I’m grateful to say that I’ve caught a groove with blogging this week! And it’s wild that in the past couple of blog posts, writing poetry specifically has been on my mind, and really, that’s the goal I want to make for this week.
There are several alarms on my phone: three assigned for waking me up in the morning, and two assigned for night time when I should be winding down before bed, and then actually getting ready for bed (brushing teeth, etc.). Guess which alarms get ignored most of the time?
Maybe it’s because they’re set a little earlier than I’d like for them to be, but really, they’re set so that I can get a good eight hours of sleep at night. So, it’s for my benefit in the end, but I end up going to bed later because I have other things I want to accomplish before hitting my head on the pillow at night.
I say all that stuff about alarms to say: during my wind down time is when I’d usually journal and write a poem or two to exercise my writing skills. Plus, it gives me something else to do other than scroll on my phone.
So, this week, I’m aiming to really take those last two alarms of the day seriously. I’m going to stop whatever I’m doing, and take 45 minutes before bed to write, whether it’s journaling, poetry, or both.
What’s a tangible goal you want to make for this week?
